Position Title: Director of Operations 

Reports To: Executive Director 

Supervises: Human Resources, Marketing & Fundraising, Administrative Services, and other operational departments as assigned 

FLSA Status: Exempt 

Employment Status: Full-Time 

I. Purpose of the Job 

The Director of Operations is the executive leader responsible for the operational health, effectiveness, and sustainability of Georgia Options. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organization’s internal operations, ensuring systems, people, and processes work efficiently to support the mission. 

The Director of Operations leads the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s operational infrastructure, including administrative systems, policies, procedures, organizational processes, and cross-functional collaboration. This position provides direct oversight of Human Resources, Marketing & Fundraising, and other assigned operational departments, ensuring internal functions support the delivery of high-quality, person-centered services. 

Working closely with the Executive Director and Leadership Team, the Director of Operations removes operational barriers, strengthens accountability, drives continuous improvement, and builds organizational capacity for sustainable growth. 

 

II. Essential Functions and Responsibilities 

A. Executive Operational Leadership 

• Serve as the executive leader responsible for the overall effectiveness of Georgia Options’ internal operations. 

• Develop operational strategies aligned with organizational goals. 

• Ensure systems, technology, and administrative functions operate efficiently. 

• Promote accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence. 

B. Organizational Systems and Process Improvement 

• Design and improve organizational systems and workflows. 

• Develop and maintain standardized operating procedures. 

• Lead organization-wide process improvement initiatives. 

• Establish process documentation standards and improve communication. 

C. Department Leadership 

• Provide executive leadership for Human Resources, Marketing & Fundraising, Administrative Services, and other assigned departments. 

• Hire, coach, evaluate, and develop department leaders. 

• Establish goals and ensure accountability. 

D. Organizational Performance 

• Develop operational metrics. 

• Monitor performance trends. 

• Provide recommendations and reports to executive leadership. 

E. Policy and Procedure Management 

• Develop, implement, and maintain organizational policies and procedures. 

F. Cross-Department Collaboration 

• Foster collaboration and resolve operational issues across departments. 

G. Compliance and Risk Management 

• Support compliance with DBHDD, Medicaid, HIPAA, employment regulations, and other applicable standards. 

H. Strategic Planning 

• Participate in strategic planning and lead operational initiatives supporting organizational growth.

IV. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

Knowledge of organizational leadership, process improvement, strategic planning, human resources, policy development, change management, project management, quality improvement, risk management, communication, and leadership coaching. 

Ability to design organizational systems, lead enterprise-wide improvement initiatives, build leaders, create accountability, translate strategy into execution, and solve complex operational problems. 

 

V. Credentials and Experience 

Required: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, Human Resources, or related field. 

• Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience. 

Preferred: 

• Master’s degree in field listed above or related field  

• Nonprofit leadership experience. 

• Experience supporting organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

• Experience developing organizational systems, policies, and performance metrics.
