PURPOSE OF JOB

The purpose of this job is to assist with administrative duties of the parking operations for Downtown Athens Parking (DAPS) and the Athens Downtown Development Authority (ADDA). Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to superb customer service, sorting, entering, and depositing parking fees into proper accounts, preparing daily and monthly reports; mailing monthly parking fee notices, responding to inquires; and performing additional tasks as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTES AND RESPONSIBILTIES

The following duties are normal for this job and are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be assigned.

·        Collect payments from customers at the walk-in counter, outside drop-box, and post office box. Apply payments to proper accounts via computerized recordkeeping; balance monies received daily to the computer-generated edit list; identify and resolve any discrepancies; prepare daily cash and check collections for bank deposit.

·        Provide superb customer service, respond professionally to telephone inquiries, walk-in customers with questions, concerns and complaints.

·        Download and upload violation data to and from handheld units. Receive and process all ticket information from the Parking Violation Officers. Reset blue-tooth mechanism as required.

·        Coordinate, sort and open the mail. Send out parking fee notices to customers.

·        Coordinate supply, sell to the public, track collections, and deposit monies for trash bags sales for the Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department.

·        Report customer concerns regarding on-street problems (trash, sewage, broken glass, etc.) to the proper offices.

·        Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

·        Knowledge of the policies, procedures, methods, and activities of DAPS/ADDA as they pertain to the performance and duties relating to the position

·        Knowledge of the terminology used within the organization

·        Ability to communicate effectively by written and oral means

·        Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other staff members

·        Ability to use independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations

·        Ability to utilize and understand standard office equipment, computer applications, and techniques as necessary in the completion of daily assignments

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

·        High School Diploma required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position

PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS

·        Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment

·        Must be able to move and carry objects or materials

This position requires:

·        Walking, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, seeing, kneeling, and repetitive motions

·        Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating the other hand with different activities

·        Must have minimal levels of hand/eye/foot coordination

·        Must be able to exert up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or up to ten pounds of force frequently

INTERPERSONAL COMMUNICATION

·        Requires the ability to speak and/or signal people to convey or exchange information

·        Includes giving and receiving assignment and/or directions to co-workers and from supervisors

·        Must be able to communicate via telephone. Requires the ability to talk and/or hear

LANGUAGE ABILITY

·        Requires the ability to read a variety of informational documentation, directions, instructions, and methods and procedures

·        Requires the ability to prepare reports, and other documents using prescribed formats and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

·        Must be adaptable to performing under considerable stress when confronted with an emergency

·        May require the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color

VERBAL AND NUMERICAL APTITUDE

·        Requires the ability to record and deliver information, to understand procedures, and to follow oral and written instructions

·        Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with customers

·        Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, to multiply and divide, and to create and utilize mathematical formulas as needed
