Georgia | Remote-Friendly | Commission-Driven
Oconee Foundations is hiring a commercial concrete estimator to own and build our bid pipeline for commercial slab and foundation work. This is a commission-driven seat — you’re paid on the profit of jobs you win, not on hours at a desk. Strong estimators can make six figures with real upside for margin discipline.
The Work
You’ll own the bid process end-to-end:
- Source and qualify commercial bid opportunities from online platforms and direct GC invites
- Take off and price commercial slab-on-grade, footings, walls, pilasters, piers, and related concrete scopes
- Build clean, competitive bids with tight scope, qualifications, and exclusions
- Submit through GC portals and follow through to award
- Hand off won work cleanly to operations with full bid documentation
- Build GC relationships that expand your invite list over time
The target work is commercial slab — slab-on-grade is the sweet spot — with adjacent foundation scopes as they come.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years estimating commercial concrete, with slab-on-grade as primary experience
- Fluent reading architectural, structural, and civil drawings
- Proficiency with PlanSwift for takeoffs (our estimating standard)
- Experience sourcing and bidding through ConstructionConnect or similar platforms
- You know concrete — mixes, finishes, rebar, forming, what goes into a pour and what can go wrong
- The discipline to build labor hours into estimates, not just material counts
- Strong written communication — proposals and qualifications need to be tight
Nice to Have
- Existing GC relationships in Georgia / the Southeast
- Experience with Trimble FieldLink and being fluent in CAD input ( We draw directly into FieldLink from Planswift)
- Tilt-up, post-tensioned, or site concrete experience (Â sidewalk, Be very fluid in ADA code)
- Field background (foreman, superintendent, or PM) — estimators who’ve actually poured concrete build better numbers
Who Thrives Here
- Self-directed — no one will be chasing you for takeoffs
- Margin-disciplined — we’d rather lose a bid than win a bad one
- Honest on numbers — commission rewards real profit, not padded bids
- Fast on deadlines — bid dates are hard dates
Compensation
This is a commission-driven role with a monthly draw so you’re not starving while you build the pipeline. Commission is tiered on actual gross profit at job close-out — we pay on real numbers, not bid-day estimates. There’s a sign-on bonus at the 6-month mark for candidates who show up and build. Strong estimators with good hit rates and margin discipline will earn well into six figures. Full comp plan shared with serious candidates.
Benefits include life insurance, 2 weeks PTO, phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, and a company-paid laptop. We cover PlanSwift, ConstructionConnect, and FieldLink.
Location & Arrangement
Remote-friendly for the right person; Georgia-based preferred. On-site for pre-bid walkthroughs and key GC meetings. Weekly pipeline and win/loss review with the owner.
To Apply
Send a resume and a short note covering two or three of your most recent commercial slab bids — the scope, square footage or cu yards, and the outcome (won/lost, and what you think drove it). No cover letter theatrics needed. If you’ve got hit-rate data or gross margin averages from recent work, share them — estimators who track their own numbers are the ones we want to talk to.
