Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Resident Support, this position provides development, implementation, and administrative support in the provision of programs and services focusing on the family to (1) encourage growth and development, (2) respond to practical problems and issues, and (3) prepare families for current and future self-sufficiency opportunities (education and employment). The development and implementation process will consist of needs assessment; problem analysis; planning and designing of programs and services and intervention tracking and measurable outcomes evaluation in compliance with stated goals. The creative utilization of resources through collaborative partnerships will ensure the department’s ability to provide self-sufficiency opportunities to improve the quality of life for public housing families. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining tracking systems to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services provided. The employee will exercise discretion and independent judgement with regard to assigned job responsibilities.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. Assesses and analyzes family and community needs through a variety of methods including but not limited to one-on-one contacts, focus groups, surveys, etc.

2. Utilizes knowledge of HUD regulations, state governmental agencies, local housing authority policies and procedures, etc. to assist in the provision of quality programs and services.

3. Assists in the planning, design, coordination, and implementation of programs and services including but not limited to Active Parenting Programs, the Dolly Parton Imaginary Library and Family Engagement Component, Resident Leadership Development, etc.

4. Develops, prepares and ensures appropriate distribution of marketing materials for programs and services.

5. Gathers, develops, and maintains accurate records and detailed reports that substantiate measurable outcomes for programs and services provided.

6. Develops and maintains tracking systems for the evaluation of programs and services.

7. Provides supportive resident services for AHA Property Managers and leadership development training for the Inter-Community Council, Inc., Youth and Adult Resident Advisory Councils.

8. Establishes and maintain partnerships with selected agencies/organizations/businesses to increase service delivery and self-sufficiency opportunities.

9. Provides front desk coverage and other administrative support per schedule or as needed.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned. The AHA will provide reasonable accommodations provided that the individual is otherwise qualified to safely perform the duties and assignments connected with the job and provided that any accommodations made do not require significant difficulty or expense.

Desirable Knowledge and Abilities

1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

2. Knowledge of modern office equipment including personal computer, copier, facsimile machine, etc.

3. Knowledge of PC-based applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Access.

4. Knowledge of general operations, regulations and procedures set forth by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Athens Housing Authority and the Resident Support Department.

5. Working knowledge of local agencies, organizations and businesses resource base to skillfully negotiate opportunities for programs and services.

6. Ability to display courtesy and sensitivity when managing difficult customer situations.

7. Ability to exhibit sound and accurate judgement while making timely decisions.

8. Ability to use time and other resources efficiently to prioritize and plan work activities.

9. Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully to identify problems and alternate solutions in a timely manner.

10. Ability to understand social problems in a way that makes explicit the relationship between problem and program.

11. Ability to provide excellent customer service to customers, agency personnel, etc.

12. Ability to abide by inter-agency and intra-agency confidentiality policies and procedures.
